Tried somewhere different today and headed to lake Bala. Arrived to witness the typical gusty wind the lake offers from such a direction. Waited a bit as I was not sure if it was 7.0 weather or 5.7. Eventually rigged 5.7 and had a ball. Although still gusty the size was just right and sailed for a few hours well powered to overpowered. The water is still firkin freezing so many an ice cream headache was had. The wind then kicked in but became really gusty. Could have done with the smaller board but with the wind so gusty it may have not made a difference. Although it was a really good day to get wired back in after such a long layoff I still think I would have been better off heading for the coast.
